JOB TITLE:   Electric Systems Engineer Intern (Full-time)

Date:  April 11, 2008

REPORTS TO:   Manager, Engineering and Planning

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible, under the day-to-day supervision of the Electric Systems Engineer, for the planning and designing of the transmission and distribution systems and substations by performing the following duties.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Provides preliminary and detailed planning for construction projects.
  2. Assists with the coordination of engineering work activities within and outside the utility, including long range planning studies and planning for construction projects.
  3. Reviews technical issues with system personnel with respect to system design, replacement, and repairs.
  4. Provides field observation for review of changes as needed on construction projects.
  5. Maintains computer model of complete distribution and substation system; performs load flow and fault analysis on a routine basis; evaluating conductor sizes, fuse sizes, capacitor location, voltage regulation and phase balancing. Reviews current system data and trends.
  6. Assists with the development of capital improvement plan (CIP); future growth studies, rate applications, impact fees, etc.
  7. Coordinates with manufacturer’s representatives regarding construction material specifications; approves related manufacturer material shop drawings.
  8. Represents Company at bid openings and planning meetings as required.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • A.B.E.T. accredited Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering from a four-year college or university, minimum

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Arkansas Registered Engineer Intern
  • Must have a valid Arkansas Driver’s License and meet the requirements of Conway Corporation’s insurance carrier

 OTHER:

  • Possess a valid Driver's License and meet the requirements of Conway Corporation’s insurance provider 
  • Must be able to work non-scheduled hours when needed, and be subject to call-out in case of emergency or trouble
