FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL (FTP) INSTRUCTIONS

Adding Pictures to FTP Web-Page

1. Log on to your FTP Site
2. Drag the pictures you want on your web-page into the FTP window
3. Drop the pictures into the FTP window
4. Open your HTML Editor Software (Nvu) from the desktop
a. If you do not have HTML Editor Software we suggest you download a free editor
b. Download Instructions
i. Select “Internet Explorer” from your desktop
ii. Search for “nvu downloads”
1. OR Type “http://nvu.com/download.php” in the address bar
iii. Select “’nvu-1.0-win32-installer-full.exe’ – Windows full installer”
iv. Install this software
v. Begin at Step 4 after install
5. Select “Open” from the top-left of the window
6. Select “Desktop” from the menu at the left
7. Double-click “index.html” from the menu
8. Select “Image” from the toolbar at the top of the window
9. Type “http://users.conwaycorp.net/your user name/filename.extension”
a. your user name should be you actual user name (ex. jondoe)
b. filename.extension should be the file you are referencing (ex. tree.jpg)
10. Press “Enter”
11. Select “OK”
12. Type a name for the picture
13. Press “Enter”
14. The picture should show up on the big page at the right of the screen
a. If the picture is too small of big double click the picture
b. Select the “Dimersions” tab from the top of the window
c. Select “Custom Size”
d. Type in the Width and Height that you want the picture to be
i. This is a trial and error process
15. Select “Save” from the toolbar at the top of the window
16. Close the Editor (Nvu)
17. Left click “index.html”
18. Drag it into your FTP Site
19. Drop it into the FTP Site
20. Select “Internet Explorer” from the desktop
21. Highlight the address bar
22. Press “Delete”
23. Type “http://users.conwaycorp.net/your user name/index.html” in the address bar
a. your user name should be your actual user name (ex. jondoe)
24. If your web-page shows your picture you have successfully added the picture
