FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL (FTP) INSTRUCTIONS
Adding Text to FTP Web-Pages
1. Open your HTML Editor Software (Nvu)
a. If you do not have HTML Editor Software we suggest you download a free editor
b. Download Instructions
i. Select “Internet Explorer” from your desktop
ii. Search for “nvu downloads”
1. OR Type “http://nvu.com/download.php” in the address bar
iii. Select “’nvu-1.0-win32-installer-full.exe’ – Windows full installer”
iv. Install this software
v. Begin at Step 1 after install
2. Select “Open” from the toolbar at the top-left- of the window
3. Select “Desktop” from the menu on the left of the window
4. Double-click “index.html” to open
5. Type “This is a test of my HTML Web-Page” in the large blank box at the right
6. Select “Save” from the menu at the top-left of the window
7. Close the Editor (Nvu)
8. Log on to your FTP
9. Left click “index.html” on the desktop
10. Drag it into your FTP folder
11. Drop it into your FTP folder
12. Select “Yes to All” When prompted “This folder already contains a file called ‘index .html’
13. Select “Internet Explorer” from the desktop
14. Type “http://users.conwaycorp.net/your user name/index.html” in the address bar
a. your user name should be your actual user name (ex. jondoe)
15. This page should read “This is a test of my HTML Web-Page”
16. If the page shows your text you have successfully added text to your web-page
